I am not in charge of the resource room, only the databases. As my earlier posting this morning indicated the sign-up sheets will be at the hospitality desk. I recommended 20 minute periods for ProQuest days and whether they use the same 20 minute sessions if there are people waiting for non-ProQuest days is up to the people running the resource room.

Hi Jan,

Will there be a sign-up sheet, and has a time limit been set when one does have one of the 4 computers?

Thanks,

Hazel

Subject: [Warsaw-Discuss] More on Resource Room Databases

I have been asked on the discussion group and also my posting on Facebook has generated the same inquiry.  "May I use my personal computer in the resource room—it will free up one of the other computers; give me a temporary access to your passwords! "

The answer is NO
No one may use their own computer to access the databases in the resource room.  This is by  agreement with the database companies, No one may get a temporary passcode to access the security issues to access the databases. It doesn't matter who you are the answer is NO.

It was suggested in my original posting to bring a USB drive to copy any files. That is the best and most efficient way to make copies of any documents you wish to copy.

Do not sign-in to your personal accounts at any of the databases, such as JewishGen, Ancestry, Fold3, Newspapers.com etc., That will only cause the computers to have to be reset with the resource room access and delay others accessing the computers. With only four computers in the resource room everyone needs to think globally not personally!

Remember time at the computers will be limited per person if there is line-up so use your time efficiently.

Thank you for your cooperation.
